Life Long

Tuesday. 8:57am. Carl Buswelder, anxious to get to his macramé lesson on time, started to dash thru the intersection against the light. As he stepped off the curb, he felt a sharp tap on his shoulder. He turned and there stood Cosmo Reaperton Death, out to get his morning non-fat espresso. “Chill, Carl.”  Buswelder shivered, certain that Mr. Death had winked (if he had any eyes). So Carl took a deep breath and waited for the light to change. After popping a double thumbs-up, Mr. Death flashed a smile and started to dissolve in a coil of smoke like a hair clog sprinkled with Drano. And as he faded from sight, Cosmo quipped, “Life’s short enough as it is…enjoy it while you can.”
